Read the text. What time is it in their countries? What are they doing?
It's five o'clock in the afternoon.
New Yorker Pete McGee is sitting in his room.
He's listening to music and trying to study.
He is fed up with school.
He has too much homework to do and he hasn't got enough free time.
And there are so many things going on out there.
There are six billion people in the world!
Can you imagine what six billion people are doing at this very moment?
It's amazing!
In New York it's 5 o'clock in the afternoon, but in London it's 10 pm.
In Moscow it's night - 1 am.
Most people are probably sleeping.
In Tokyo, most people are getting up because it's 7 o'clock in the morning.
In Sydney, my pen friend Greg is probably having his breakfast because it's 8 am.
Isn't that amazing?
I'm going to write a poem about what is going on in the world right now.
CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MANY ...
Japanese are travelling by train
businessmen are playing golf
children are playing computer games
shoplifters are shoplifting
Italians are eating spaghetti
postmen are delivering post
teenagers are arguing with their parents
sharks are eating smaller fish
tourists are visiting the Eiffel Tower
boys and girls are kissing for the first time
alarm clocks are ringing
pupils are taking a test
planes are taking off
directors are shooting a film
people are talking on the phone
policemen are running after criminals
lovers are crying
ships are sailing through the oceans
teenagers are daydreaming like myself
And at this moment everyone in the world is doing the same thing.
What?
