The BIG BANG!
History (1) about five thousand million years ago.

DINOSAURS
Dinosaurs (2) from about 200 million years ago until about 60 million years ago. So dinosaurs (3) on earth for about 140 million years. (So far human beings have been on earth about 3 million years.)

The STONE AGE
Humans have been on earth about 3 million years and (4) in Britain about ¼ million years ago. Cave people (5) stone to make tools.

The BRONZE AGE
Between about 2,100 B.C. and 500 B.C. people (6) tools from a metal called Bronze. Bronze Age people (7) Stonehenge.

The IRON AGE
Iron (8) to be used in England around about 500 B.C.

The ROMANS (9) from Italy in 55 B.C. and (10) England for about 400 years.

The ANGLO-SAXONS (11) from Germany around the year 400 A.D. and by 600 had taken over much of Southern England.

The VIKINGS (12) from Denmark, Sweden and Norway, between about 800 and 1000.

The NORMANS from France (13) the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and soon (14) over England.

The MIDDLE AGES (15) the period of time from about 1066 to about 1485.

The TUDORS
From 1485 until 1603 the Kings and Queens of England (16) from the Tudor family. Henry VIII (17) six wives (not all at the same time!).

The STUARTS
From 1603 until 1714 the Kings and Queens of England (18) from the Stuart family of Scotland. Guy Fawkes (19) to kill King James I and destroy Parliament by means of explosives on November 5th 1605. The plan (20). Every year, on 5 November, people in Britain celebrate this event by lighting fireworks.

The GEORGIANS
The time from 1714 to 1837 is called the Georgian period, because four of the kings of England (21) called George!

The VICTORIANS
Queen Victoria (22) Queen in 1837 (aged 18) and (23) until 1901! She (24) nine children. During this period there (25) a lot of child workers.

The FIRST WORLD WAR (26) from 1914 to 1918.

The SECOND WORLD WAR (27) from 1939 to 1945.
