Patrick is at Claire's. They are in her bedroom, listening to music and chatting. Listen and read.
Patrick
It's weird, you know, but I've been to your house, and I still haven't met your parents.
Claire
Yes, they're out a lot. They're both really busy.
Patrick
Oh, they sound really interesting.
Claire
Do you think so? I find my dad dull to be honest. He works late every day,
even works some weekends, doesn't go out. I don't know. I think we just
don't spend enough time together.
Claire
I'll get some crisps and juice. I won’t be a sec.
Patrick
Sit next to me. Has anyone ever told you you’ve got really lovely eyes?
Claire
Well, I’m not really sure. I think I'm getting the flu.
Patrick
What's the matter? Don't you want me here?
Claire
Well, yes. But my parents might get home ...
Patrick
They’re out, aren’t they? Don't worry.
Suddenly the door opens. Father is standing in the doorway.
His face is white. It is frightening. Patrick gets up from the floor
quickly. Claire goes towards her father.
Mr Sheen
Be quiet and turn that noise off.
Father's face moves but he can’t speak. They hear the sound
of the door. Patrick leaves quietly. Claire is alone with her father.
Mr Sheen
So when Mum and I go away, you do this.
Claire
Dad, it's not what you think.
Mr Sheen
And you think we should trust you?
Claire
It's not what you think. You got it all wrong.
Mr Sheen
I got it all wrong? You were cuddling. You fool!
Claire
Stop it, Dad, please. Stop shaking me. You're hurting me!
