I’m sixteen years old and I have been going out with Daniel for two years.

I still love him but everything has gone wrong lately.

Sometimes I have a feeling that Daniel has become a different person.

He has a terrible temper and he often shouts at me in front of our friends.

If I talk to someone he doesn’t know, he gets very jealous without any reason.

I don’t know what I’ve said or done but he is spoiling my feelings for him, and I just dread to think what will happen if we split up.

Please help me.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re so upset, but I think that you and Daniel have both changed a lot in two years.

This is nothing to worry about, because it’s perfectly natural and healthy.

You see, adolescence has all to do with self-discovery, i.e. learning more about yourself and the world you live in.

And at the moment, Daniel is obviously feeling very insecure.

Because of that he is so possessive.

You have to tell him that you love him and that you are not going to do anything to upset him.

At the same time, you must be honest and tell him that his behaviour is bothering you badly.

You should talk over your worries with each other.

If things don’t improve, I’d suggest a cooling off period in which you can both think about your feelings for each other.
